This was my second attempt at reading this book and, once again, the first 100 pages were a brutal slog and I almost gave up. I'd heard it's a great book and I wanted to know for myself. So I hung in, and I'm glad I did. The plot is complex and it hooked me, although not until around page 105. The Harriet mystery is what kept my interest; the Wennerstrom story not so much. I found parts of it predictable and parts a surprise. I liked the characters, even the bad ones. By the end of the book, I w

A good detective story that involves a dysfunctional family, serial killers, rape, sodomy, incest, animal torture, patricide, corporate corruption as well as a few twists and turns along the way.
In other words just your typical Swedish mystery-romance novel.

This was an excellent paced, very hard-to-put-down book which cost me some much-needed sleep. It was at once, sexy, exciting and thought provoking; an excellent mystery which for a long time appeared to be a locked room puzzle. It tackled such subjects as corporate corruption, computer hacking, serial murder, sexual abuse and male chauvinism. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

One of the most solid reads I've ever experienced, and certainly one of the best mysteries ever written. Not a dull moment: entertaining and informative. I've never been to Sweden but it sure feels like I have. Guaranteed to endive chills and thrills!
