The saga of the very unconventional Texas family continues – and it was good to see what was next for these guys. As always, in best soap-opera tradition, I felt as if I were coming home or at the very least visiting with close family. One that is constantly growing, and with the much-awaited addition of little five-year-old Max it seems as if there have been enough additions for now. Of course, there is the matter of a nanny for tiny twins Connor and Lexie, the fact that Riley's daughter Haley The saga of the very unconventional Texas family continues – and it was good to see what was next for these guys. As always, in best soap-opera tradition, I felt as if I were coming home or at the very least visiting with close family. One that is constantly growing, and with the much-awaited addition of little five-year-old Max it seems as if there have been enough additions for now. Of course, there is the matter of a nanny for tiny twins Connor and Lexie, the fact that Riley's daughter Haley is undeniably growing up, and the many other family members I was happy to see again. And while Jack and Riley remain front and center in the relationship department, there was enough of Eli and Robbie to keep me happy, not to mention the newest couple, Marcus and Liam.

Riley, the oil-magnate into "green oil", and his husband Jack, a cowboy and ranch owner, are as much in love, and as hot together, as always. The addition of four children to their existence as a couple may hamper their bedroom activities a little, but they more than make up for it in the intensity of their encounters. And the way they deal with all the issues that crop up, including a threat from Liam's past, just makes me sigh with happiness. If only more couples were able to figure out how to deal with life's crises this well! Both of them focus on making Max, the newest member of their family, feel at home, and seeing the little borderline-autistic boy prosper was very rewarding indeed.

Eli and Robbie are dealing with life admirably well, and I liked how Robbie turned mentor and supporter for new ranch-hand and horse-whisperer Liam. The young man is shy and clearly has a horrible past, but the way Robbie includes him in everything and makes him feel safe goes a long way to making Liam feel at home. The budding romance between Marcus (the owner of the surrogacy company that Jack and Riley worked with to have the twins) was beautiful to watch. I had no idea Marcus could be that persistent, but it becomes clear that when he sees someone worth going after, there is no stopping him.

I had no chance to be bored – not that I expected it with these guys or their friends. The time leading up to Christmas, then the holiday itself, was beautiful, and I enjoyed every moment of the passion, adventure, and all the emotions unfolding before my eyes. If you like the Campbell-Hayes men and their clan and want to find out what's going on in their lives, if you enjoy romantic soap operas and heart-stopping drama, and if you're looking for a fun and emotional read with lots of heat between loving husbands who live in the heart of Texas, give this book a go. I'm already looking forward to the next installment!

Can't believe that's it for Jack and Riley..Did not want to finish this one.....I'm so glad Liam and Marcus got it together in the end...but i so love me some Jack and Riley...Well done RJ x

Review of the book and audio book.

A great story and great audio performance.

I've read all of the Texas series books and LOVED them. Texas Christmas is book 5 and when I found out that the audio version was available I was eager to listen to it.

I'm fairly new to the world of audio books. I always thought that I'd much rather read a book than listen to one. What I've come to realize is that the narrator/performer can make all the difference to my enjoyment of the story. This is the second book I'v Review of the book and audio book.

I've read all of the Texas series books and LOVED them. Texas Christmas is book 5 and when I found out that the audio version was available I was eager to listen to it.

I'm fairly new to the world of audio books. I always thought that I'd much rather read a book than listen to one. What I've come to realize is that the narrator/performer can make all the difference to my enjoyment of the story. This is the second book I've listened to performed by Sean Crisden; both of them were written by one of my favorite authors, RJ Scott.

I listened to the first book (The Rancher's Son – a book I read and loved) immediately after listening to another book; an historical M/M story with a wonderful narrator. When I listened to The Rancher's Son, performed by Sean Crisden, I didn't enjoy it as much as the historical. What I now realize is that it was just too big of a shift to go from historical to contemporary western without a break between the two of them.

As I listened to Sean perform Texas Christmas I was amazed by how perfectly he nailed the different characters' voices. I was totally pulled into the story again and felt so connected to the characters; it was a fantastic experience. I'm now a big fan of Sean's audio performances and he does perform, not just narrate.

As for the story, I can't say enough good things about books by RJ Scott and the Texas series in particular. Texas Christmas is about Liam, who came to work at the "D" in book 4, Texas Family. While you might be able to listen to (or read) Texas Christmas without having read any of the preceding stories I don't recommend it. All of the books are interwoven and one builds on the other with different couples taking center stage but with Jack and Riley also being a large part of the story.

It's hard to describe/review just this one story without getting too long winded about the entire series. I'll just say that if you've read and/or listened to any of the other Texas books you won't want to miss this one.

I love how Ms. Scott weaves new characters into the family Riley and Jack now have. Each couple that comes to the ranch is engaging, passionate, and flawed. I'll be starting the next one soon! ...more

i hope there will be part 6, 7, 8 etc. cause i miss them all already and i finished this book less than 5 minutes ago.
