Light, funny and clever as usual. I loved the parody about the gothic novels of that times (since I like gothic novels).

Un po' coming-of-age, un po' comedy-of-manners, un po' parodia del genere sentimentale, un po' di quello gotico. Un bel compendio di generi per il primo libro di Jane Austen (e per me forse anche l'ultimo). Una lettura che alterna dialoghi brillanti (in cui si evince l'arguzia della critica dell'autrice alla società a lei contemporanea), a lunghi tratti piuttosto noiosi. E' tristemente consolante che le similarità tra quella società e la nostra son molti di più di quelle che si possa pensare.

L’inizio del romanzo è divertentissimo, poi, andando avanti con la lettura, queste parti divertenti sono un po’ più rare, ma non importa perché ormai la trama, con le varie (dis)avventure di Catherine, mi aveva catturata. Peccato per il finale che si risolve troppo in fretta e in questo mi ha un po’ deluso. Per questo motivo, infatti, alla fine gli ho dato solo 4 stelline, mentre per buona parte del libro ero sicurissima ne avrebbe meritate 5!

Forse è la traduzione, mal'ho trovato di difficile lettura e poco scorrevole. Credo abbia influito anche il fatto che questo tipo di libri no sia esattamente la mia lettura preferita.
