Un libro che alterna pagine da 5 stelle a pagine che a mala pena raggiungono le 2 stelle. La storia merita davvero il massimo, per originalità e per come è scritta, ma indubbiamente le pagine sono troppe, alcune superflue. Poi non rientrano nei miei gusti i libri scritti in modo troppo moderno per essere ambientati secoli indietro. Sugar è donna moderna, che si guadagna la simpatia del lettore, forse questo è l'aspetto migliore del libro. ...more

# 2 favourite book of 2020

The Crimson Petal and the White was by far the most intimidating book on my TBR, and one of the oldest as well. Sometimes I thought I would never find the courage to pick it up, but finally I did, and guess what? It turned out to be one of my favourite books of the year.

I definitely can see why this novel was so popular when it first came out. The narrator is absolutely original and from the very first page brings you into the story. You feel like you're watching a mov ...more

Purtroppo non si è rivelato il libro che mi aspettavo. A tratti noioso e ripetitivo. La storia poteva riassumersi in metà delle pagine.
