I heard to many great things about this book , so when i came across it i had to give it a try

I didn't like it that much , it's divided into two parts . the first one was very boring and took me so much time to get through it ,its pacing was so slow and i felt as if most of it was pointless ,

but the second part was a bit more interesting , i felt the story picking up and some events actually began to happen . yet i didn't enjoy it that much either , it didn't make me want to bang my head again ...more

Avevo tanto sentito parlare di questo romanzo. Alcuni me l’avevano descritto come rivoluzionario, altri mi avevano detto che era in grado di aprirti gli occhi.
Io, invece, sono rimasta completamente indifferente a tutta la faccenda. Al massimo a volte mi sono annoiata.
La prima parte è veramente difficile da leggere: è un elenco senza fine di ciò che accade al protagonista. Una descrizione unica, neanche tanto di persone e luoghi, proprio quanto di fatti.

Lo Straniero è uno di quei libri di cui non riesco a fare una vera recensione a caldo. L'ho letto d'un fiato perché è scritto incredibilmente bene e ti attira sempre di più dentro la storia. La cosa difficile è proprio lui, lo straniero. Indifferente a tutto, si rifiuta di conformarsi al "gioco". E' una cosa che lascia sconcertati gli altri personaggi e noi. L'indifferenza però non si limita a lui, si estende al mondo, all'universo, all'esistenza (spero che Camus mi perdonerà il riferimen ITA-ENG

Si legga ciò che si vuole nella conclusione del romanzo che in fin dei conti conclusione non é. Mi è piaciuto, non posso negarlo, e nonostante ammiri molto alcuni passaggi, una parte di me fatica a stare dietro a una totale assenza di sentimenti e reazioni naturali. Non perché non riesca a immaginare una cosa del genere, ma perché cerco e affano nel trovare la logica dietro l'essere del protagonista, pur sapendo che tale logica non esiste e non vuole essere trovata. L'ultima pagina ci lascia in sospeso, con una sensazione di amarezza e anche di una strana consolazione. Va letto. Tutto qui.

As it happened with so many other books I've read, I can't find the proper words to write a review. I read The Stranger straight through because it's written incredibly well and it just draws you into the story. The most puzzling thing was him, the stranger. Indifferent to everything, he refuses to "play the game". This unsettles the other characters and even us. The indifference is not limited to him, though. It spreads to the world, the universe, the existence (I hope Camus will forgive me for using this word). You can read whatever you want in the ending of the story, which is not an ending after all. I liked the book, I can't deny it, and even if I admire certain passages very much, a part of me struggles to catch up with a total absence of feelings and natural reactions. And not because I can't imagine or understand something like that but because I uselessly try to find a logic behind the protagonist, though I know logic doesn't exist and doesn't want to be found. The last page leaves us hanging, with a sense of sorrow, bitterness and some sort of comfort. You have to read The Stranger. I have nothing else to add. ...more
