Overall, I liked The Museum of Extraordinary Things. But I wasn't a huge fan of the italicized 1st person flashback excerpts before the 3rd person narrative of present time. I get the purpose of it, but sometimes it made the story drag. That aside, I like the slowly building love story that was more about finding acceptance for who you truly are. A love that can heal souls broken by the cruelty of society and life circumstances. ...more

I have a predilection for circus geek stories, so I was primed to like this novel. It was disappointing that Coralie had so little interaction with such an interesting world surrounding her, which was, I suppose, the point. I felt that some aspects of the plot moved very quickly and little moments had profound impact on the characters, while other bits were long periods of inaction.
