A fun read. Good characterisation, a good villain and rounded main characters you can care about.
It's fairly short. The strength of the story means it could have been fleshed out to full novel length, but i didn't feel cheated by the short length.
I enjoyed the 'Italian Job' opening, but wouldn't have guessed the subject or tone of the rest of the book from that opening, as it is different in style from the rest.

I haven't rated this book, although obviously as I wrote it, I think it's wonderful ;-) To be honest, I'd give it about 4.25 out of 5 stars. I don't pretend it's up there with Tolstoy, but it's a lot more enjoyable than most Kindle indies I've seen too. For a mystery thriller, it is uncommonly British and European in tone, not always entirely serious and with a satisfyingly-convoluted plot.
