I loved this book. It introduced me to nu-shu, the secret writing of women in China. For centuries the women corresponded secretly with this type of writing, confident that men couldn't read it. This book also introduced me to "laotong" a same-old friend. Two same-old's sign a contract as children, vowing to be lifelong companions til death.
