Really...it's a 5...but I refuse to give books that make me cry (in a sad way a 5) I just can't justify it.
I really liked the book. Death is the narrator, and there really are no surprises..he spells it out for you right from the beginning; but I didn't get it until later...even though he hid nothing. I would give this book 4.5 stars. The story is a real heartbreaker. I really enjoyed the writer's manner of story telling such as death as a narrator, girl's small world which somehow can be projected to the outside real worl if horror, love, survival, moral and finally ceasing the day.
This story is a true survivor. I loved it! ...more

Liesel, a child in a small German town had to navigate the horror of her brother dying and being abandoned by her mother. But the biggest horror was surviving the war. Heartbreaking and inspirin

5 stars- nuff said! One of the best books I think I've ever read. An Incredibly well-written, engaging story, with some very well developed and memorable characters. What more could you ask for?
