I bought this book on a whim and I am so glad that I did. It turned out to be one of the best and most original novels I have ever read. It's not a book for people who are looking for a quick read or a happy ending, but it is breathtaking and will haunt you long after you finish reading it. ...more

This book was beautiful. Oh my goodness to beautiful and sad. What a new look on WW2. The writing is so poetic and the story just flows smoothly. At first it was a struggle to get into it, but after I read 1oo pages or more I just read and didn't want to put it down.

I had really high expectations going into this book because both my sisters and my mom LOVED and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this book, so I am sad to say that it isn’t one of my all-time favorites. However, there are a lot of good aspects of the book.

What a wonderfully told story. I felt full emotional connection to the characters. I had just gone to the holocaust museum when this book became available for me at my library. Just a coincidence but I think it made the book that much better for me.

technically this is not a review but I had to mention, this is one of those books whose characters will stay with long after you have forgotten the book.
I heard a lot about the book before I decided to read but was against reading it since it mentions young adult fiction. Glad that I did read it or would have missed on a book that is Well-written book, makes an interesting read, and love the characters. definitely recommend it.

I tried to read this but I had trouble following it. I also don't like books with foul language. It is mild, at least as far as I've read, but still pointless. Maybe I will pick it up again some other time. ...more
