I love British literature so this hits the spot. Gaskell's insights into the motivations and characters of people that cause them to behave the way they do is pretty fascinating. Of course there is a lot of conversation about nerves, illness, and flowers because of the period that can be a bit tedious after 300 pages. I can't decide whether I like and am happy for Molly or not. She's not exactly the bold heroine I hoped for but her virtue is presented in a very traditional feminine way. She gets ...more
