The Moonstone, by Wilkie Collins, is a classic mystery from the Victorian era. I have had this book for some years and started it once, but didn't get very far. This time I read the whole thing, and it was a great mystery! The Moonstone (not an actual moonstone, but a huge diamond) was originally set in a Hindu idol, but had been a victim of numerous conflicts over the centuries and finally ends up in England.
