I listened to this book on audible. The narrator is quite proficient but the story…oh my,
such silly little twits.
I do see the merit, I get why it is a classic and will remain so. If you are a serious author or a serious lover of words then this will enchant you. If you crave a simpler time then this book will be for you, but after reading or rather listening to this now, I must confess that I understand why I hated these books at school. I enjoyed reading this book over the christmas period. It was hard to get into at first but worth going through it to not only enjoy the style and flow of the writing but to also get yourself to the storyline that it's all been building up to - it'll get you hooked and I became a tad antisocial towards the endof the holidays as I just wanted to see what'd happen to all the characters
