I listened to this book on audible. The narrator is quite proficient but the story…oh my,

such silly little twits.

I do see the merit, I get why it is a classic and will remain so. If you are a serious author or a serious lover of words then this will enchant you. If you crave a simpler time then this book will be for you, but after reading or rather listening to this now, I must confess that I understand why I hated these books at school. I want to be entertained while reading,

Thank you again, Ms. Austen! I really enjoyed Emma. Now, it had it's bouts of boring..but all in all I enjoyed watching Emma grow, as a person. Now I probably would have been fine just reading the last 10 or so chapters...but then you just wouldn't have gained Emma's unique perspective on life..and her life lessons as she goes! This, as the other Jane Austen I've read, took a long time to get to the 'event' in the story...the page-turner part...but I realized during reading, the book was about E ...more

I enjoyed reading this book over the christmas period. It was hard to get into at first but worth going through it to not only enjoy the style and flow of the writing but to also get yourself to the storyline that it's all been building up to - it'll get you hooked and I became a tad antisocial towards the endof the holidays as I just wanted to see what'd happen to all the characters
