I enjoyed this book much more than I did the Twilight series. Then again, to be fair when I had first read the Twilight series I was a few years younger and hadn't read many of the classics I have today. Perhaps it was the shock factor of having somebody else look upon the Cullens from an outsider perspective, or perhaps it was the refreshing take on vampires - the dark side of them other than just sparkling in the sunlight - that made this book more enjoyable to read. We all know what happens to Bree. It's no surprise to me that in the end, Bree died. We all saw it coming. But I like Meyer's new point of view. Instead of being Bella with no bloodlust, I was Bree with a ton of it. I wanted to rip out someone's throat, but I also wanted to control myself.
I'm not surprised that Bree just handed over her life. I mean, she lost everyone and everything. Her family, her "boyfriend", all her friends, they were gone. So why not hand over your life? Everything's gone.
