What Members Thought

I think Tolkien does a great job sharing time with his readers. How long travel takes. And, even more important, story differences with different groups. Our party is broken into 3 parts for this book and I never once felt confused as to how the periods of time overlapped.
I am still not a huge fan of all the poetry and ballads throughout the story. Although I liked the Ents the best. Oh, how fun they were to learn about!

This was another excellent read. A LOT of differences between the movie and the book, and I'm pleased with the added level of character development. I really think most of the changes that were made in the film were made to save time. The book has a lot of depth, and leaves very few details to the imagination. The two part story is an interesting mechanic, that definitely adds to the fact that the fellowship is literally separated by miles and leagues.
