I will be honest with you... I never intended to read this book. I told myself for years that I wouldn’t (can’t even remember why anymore- I think it might have been the hype, I’ve never really been a band wagon jumper). And then came Teaching of Adolescent Lit and Harry Potter became required reading along with 39 other books. So this is a re-read, I hadn't realized I didn't have a review yet.
This is a very fun series that does grow up with its main characters. So this one is by far the most "childrens" book of the bunch. But it stills works for adults.
The world is setup beautifully with us starting with the Dunsley's and their protectiveness of their "normality", which leads to a not so fun childhood for Harry.
Going to Diagon Alley and then Hogwart's opens up the magical world to Harry and lets the reader learn it wi ...more
