I think this is one of the best books I've ever read. My aunt gave it to me, it was published around 1981 and looked really battered on the outside. I had a really hard time at first understanding the 19th century English that I had to stop last December '08 because the vocabulary was a killer. I continued reading it Holy Tuesday and finished, fortunately, on Good Friday of '09.
