What Members Thought
Painful, informative and in-depth story of a group of mail-order brides sent from Japan to San Francisco in the early 20th century. The author's use of first-person plural throughout the entire story, for me, meant a lack of connection. There are no characters, no faces, no names and it lost a star for that reason. But the book is clearly so pain-stakingly researched and haunting that I would still give this 3-stars.
