I stumbled and tripped over this story while looking for knitting/spinning books for my new Kindle. Finished reading it in about an hour, and eagerly purchased the next of 4 pieces (of the eventual 5). This story literally takes you down rabbit hole and even when you reach the end of this one, you still don't know what happened. I was very quickly drawn to the main character in this story. Once I started reading, I didn't stop until the end - literally one sitting. I thought I knew at one point what was going to happen, then I changed my mind and thought something different. Then I gave up trying to guess...sort of. Short story, lasting thoughts. I really, really enjoyed reading this!

This is somewhere between a novelette and a short story. I read it because I was desparate for just something to read. I was really pleasantly surprised by how well it was written and how engaging it was. I'm not sure I would read the 4 sequels. It paints a fairly grim dystopian future. This is perhaps 3 and 3/4 stars.
