I stopped reading this book after 100 pages and should have put it down before. As Ryan Holiday says, read a book for 100 pages minus your age; if it doesn't grab you by then, stop reading. Why waste your time when there are so many good books?
Ryan is correct. I started reading the Pulitzer winners this year and have enjoyed the benefits of beautifully written, wise books. That is why I chose this book, assuming it's prize winning status assured a captivating read. I was mistaken.

Easy to read book that ended up more boring than funny. I mean at times the protagonist was bored and disillusioned with life, and the author described this so well, that it made me bored. This left me with the odd dichotomy of appreciating the author's skill at doing what he intended so well, while at the same time not liking the feeling of boredom and disillusionment that he intended. While the jacket describes the book as hilarious, I found it only mildly amusing and that only infrequently. I
