Going back to write a review of this because it was so amazing. I liked "A Man Called Ove", but found it light (nothing wrong with that) and kind of formulaic so I was not interested in this. However my friend told me not to miss it and I am glad I listened. It starts out seeming to be about a hockey team in a small town, but it spins out to an engrossing read about the cult of athletics, bullying, loyalty and sexual politics. Completely different from "Ove", really moving and beautiful book. I considered giving up a few times within the first 50 pages but so glad I stuck with it.
