What Members Thought

It took me a while to get interested in this book. It probably didn’t help that I started the book having no clue what it was about. For at least 3/4’s of the book I was thinking it was a 3 star but the way it ended nicely rounded it all up to 4 stars.
The information about the Japanese internment of WWII was interesting. It was all new information and I enjoyed reading a historical fiction on this topic. I especially loved the story of love and where you find it. It was a good book.

I was caught in the magic of this book. It was a poignant and heart-breaking love story. A story on the importance of open communication, tolerance, and seeing there are two sides to every issue. The title describes it well as bitter sweet.

What a sweet story! I did not know much in regards to the Japanese containment camps during World War 2, and it was very interesting to read about them. I really appreciated the way the author told the story while teaching about something that is not taught in history classes in Junior High or High School. (It wasn't taught in mine.)

Okay... I never reviewed this book last time. I didn't finish it this time around. Everyone else in the world loves this book and it is an interesting look at this era and a sweet story in the end... but I just couldn't connect with the characters. Not sure what my problem was, but I've decided not to finish it. I just can't get into it....

Sweet little love story with some history sneaked in there ;) I didn't really expect to like this book because it was a pretty slow start, but I really ended up liking it. I don't know why I gave it 3 stars, I just did. But I still recommend it. I always love a happy ending.
