3.5 stars for me, but I'm feeling generous and rounding up. This was NOT what I was expecting at all. But what a fun twist to the plot of a book that I was expecting to be just your run-of-the-mill coming of age story. Without giving any spoilers, that is about all I can say about the plot. An arresting story with references to Madeleine L'Engle's "Wrinkle in Time" in a style that reminds me of E.L. Konigsberg. Nicely done. Read L'Engle's book first if you haven't already. Doing so will add to your enjoyment of this one.

Interesting and unusual storyline. interesting and appealing characters navigating the treacherous waters of 6th grade social life. mysterious and cryptic notes from an unknown writer. simultaneously real and fantastical.
This was a cute story. It's a book for older children & was an award winner last year, so I decided to read it & see if it was something I could read with my kids. I would recommend it for late elementary, early middle-school aged kids. I enjoyed it- fun story line.

This was kind of cool, especially its allusions to A Wrinkle in Time, which is one of my all-time favorite books. I liked the main character a lot, and I liked how everything tied together in the end. I was fascinated by the main character's mom, but annoyed with some of her choices. Not really one to recommend unless you're really into A Wrinkle in Time, I would say, or if you like thinking about time travel situations.

This was an ok read. Kinda weird-ish. But, entertaining for the most part. Kids would probably like it better -- it was written for a young audience.
Sweet and rather straight-forward story but with a fun "wrinkle" in the plot. I really liked the main character/narrator's voice; refreshing in that is has generally likable characters. This is the type of book I would have LOVED when I was 12 or 13 years old.

This was a very creative, clever book. I like mystery/time travel type books so this was fun. It was quick, easy read which I need (maybe I should read more young adult/children's books!).

I really liked how everything is like a realistic fiction novel, except for one twist. It was fun to figure out the mystery. Delightful book! Oh, and I like the new Miranda.
I guess I wasn't in the mood to read this book because I didn't enjoy it that much and it seemed to get great reviews. oh we'll.

Very clever well written story. However using profanity so often is unnecessary and does not add to the story.
This book is wonderful. I got chills at the end, even though I had guessed the outcome before.
