This is one of those books that is highly enjoyable to read, so much so that I couldn't put it down. However, it was also one of those books that I didn't really love where it was going... so while the story telling was fabulously gripping, the characters were nicely developed and believable, and the love was understandable; it was just lacking something for me. I felt like this was a little 5 minutes ago, after reading/seeing so much dystopian teen fiction. I liked that it was less violent than The Hunger Games trilogy, but it was not quite as well written. I love dystopian YA fiction and this was an exceptional read. If you ever wanted to know how life would be if nearly everything was chosen for you to who you marry, what job you have to what you eat then this is the book for you. I eagerly look forward to book 2!

Well this is a young adult book I read before my kids did. I think they'll like it, though it's a complete knock off of Hunger Games. Lovers of Hunger Games will probably like it, I just have a small problem with intellectual thievery. ...more

I enjoyed reading this book and wanted to see what happened. It reminded me a lot of the Pretties and Uglies series. I am excited for the next book. It was a super easy read and enjoyable.

This was not my favorite YA dystopian novel, but I'm intrigued and will keep reading through the series. I love this genre no matter how predictable the outcome of the story line may be. ...more
