I really enjoyed this story. Miri was an excellent character. Hale portrayed a believable mixture of insecurity and natural strength and leadership skills. I loved the way the different relationships developed between the characters. And the story was very interesting, too.
This was excellent! I would highly recommend it to girls age 9 and up, and anyone else who enjoys Shannon Hale. It did not have any shockers to make it PG like Goose Girl and Enna Burning. A very uplifting, enjoyable story.
This really is a great book. It has a good message for young readers and is just a really entertaining read. I can't wait to read it with my girls when they get a little bit older.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I had anticipated, but I am still interested in reading more of her books. I think that I'll read the Goose Girl next.

I loved this one. These are the Shannon Hale's I can handle. I like that they are feel-good novels without sickeningly sweet.
