Linda Martin
Grandma Gatewood left us her spirit of adventure and an ethic of persistence in reaching goals. From 1955 when she was 67 until the end of her life she walked about 14000 miles, starting with her first 2000+ mile walk on the Appalachian Trail.

She walked the entire trail twice after that with her last hike being done in sections, finishing at age 77. How amazing is that? There were many other hikes as well. She loved to walk!

Pretty cool how much she hiked so much at such an advanced age and with such few supplies!! She lived a hard life and I’m sure that helped get her through some of the miserable times.

If you read only one book this year, this should be the one. Grandma Gatewood is an excellent example of an unconquerable soul.
