This is historical fiction about the Tennessee Children’s Home. I didn’t know anything about it before starting this book. Horrible things happened to children there, so some may not want to read this. It did just make me sick at times, but was such a good book that I really wanted to finish it. Nothing is detailed but you know what has happened. Not all of the book took place in the children’s home— probably less than 1/3, so it isn’t as bad as I might be making it sound. I loved this book. I loved the jump back and forth between the present and the past. This can be classified as Historical Fiction and the practice that is highlighted in the book is astonishing and horrifying. It’s unbelievable, but I enjoy learning through a mix of fiction. It was well written and had strong characters. I’d highly recommend it!
