Most of the children taken were from poor circumstances. Their parents were duped into signing papers that basically signed away their parental rights. I loved this book. I loved the jump back and forth between the present and the past. This can be classified as Historical Fiction and the practice that is highlighted in the book is astonishing and horrifying. It’s unbelievable, but I enjoy learning through a mix of fiction. It was well written and had strong characters. I’d highly recommend it!

The prose were evocative at times and lovely to read, especially when it came to the relationship between the sisters. Worth reading, but it isn't easy to process. ...more
