What Members Thought

Written by the niece of a Holocaust survivor who was one of only 12 children who survived the ghetto of Lodz, Poland (she was there from age 4 1/2-10). Takes a little while to get used to the format as it is written in short "poems". Fascinating to see what sticks in the mind of a child. For those of you who are squeamish about horrors of the holocaust, this is a great book for you...nothing graphic...just really, really sad (obviously). Very fast read (it took me about 3 hours).

So very excellent! Thank you Megan. This is the beauty of Goodreads. Those gems you might have missed if you didn't have such good, smart, reading friends. I loved it. You just never get to read WWII stories with happy endings and this one does.
I loved the Father in this story. Loved how he listened to his gut and it saved his life, quite a few times.
This is a beautiful book, a must read!
Just re-read for our summer book group. Liked it just as much. ...more
