I loved this book. Loved loved loved. Backman's humor is a little dark, but I really liked it. I have known a few "Oves" in my lifetime. I think this book shows you that you can't judge a book by it's cover, that sometimes behind a crusty exterior there is a person that is trying to do their best and live a good life. I am grateful that there are people like Ove. I understand his grief and while I don't condone what he did, I can imagine what pain he must have been going through. ...more

Upon Backman's first introduction to the man called, Ove, i was left with a nasty taste in my mouth for that just wouldn't go away. However, as time passed, I grew to know Ove through both the choices that he made, and the lasting impressions that he left on those around him, and my heart couldn't help but let him inside. What a treasure. ...more

Some language. This story pulled me in from the beginning and you can’t help but love the characters.

I avoided this book for ages, worried that it might be a disappointment after all the hype. It's one of the best contemporary books I've ever read. Full of imperfect but good people who love eachother in the most fundamental, effective ways possible. Highly recommend! ...more

I just couldn't get into this book. I did the audio version, and the narrator was amazing! Even with that, the language was a turn off for me. And the book felt heavy. Maybe I just need something more light and fluffy at this time. ...more
