Meh.

- Book is about an old man.
- Old man is a curmudgeon, meaning he is 'difficult'.
- Old man makes friends when he is not trying to make friends
- Old man has some dark shit going on that kind of throws you for a loop.

Like, I don't know where else to really go with this. Like, I didn't hate the book but I didn't praise it to the heavens. It's a beach read if anything. It'll keep you entertained but not enough to remain on your bookshelf and or to read again.

This book! One second I’m laughing the next I’m crying. Ove is one of the most fascinating characters I’ve ever read. He was quite profane which usually bugs me in books, but for some reason it just added to his depth and even reminded me a bit of my own grandpa. ;) And everyone else just built on the story to create this beautiful experience. I enjoyed the whole journey and the many poetic phrases and heartfelt moments. One of my favorite quotes “Ove had never been asked how he lived before he ...more

I loved loved loved this book. Everyone has a heart if you can just give them a chance. You can see how we end up with the attitudes and prejudices we do because of experiences we have had in our lives. The cat was my favorite part, of course. I literally laughed out loud with this book because the author and narrator on audible did such an outstanding job. I rarely laugh out loud. Parvanah is my hero. I hope to be like her when I grow up. To be able to look past someone being so mean to her and ...more

I loved this book! It’s probably more of a 4.5 stars rating. Ove is a grumpy old man who just wants to be left alone. It took me a chapter or two to love his character, because he is quite rude and grumpy, but by the end, I felt I understood and loved him. I love the pregnant neighbor who pushes Ove to be a better person, and then sees and brings out the good in him.
There’s a bit more language than I like, but he is grumpy...

One of those excellent books that makes you wonder how many good books you are missing. Compelling characters. The author makes you love a curmudgeon.

Adult book...been on my list. I felt it rather depressing at first but came to enjoy it.

I can't even explain how much I loved this book. There is a very good reason it is so popular. The emotional journey it took me on was unique. I don't think I have ever read a book that made me feel so much. From deep belly laughter that made me tear up to the ugly sobbing I did at times, these characters, and the writing made me feel like I was living right beside Ove and friends. It's an incredibly beautiful story of love, friendship, family, and community. One I will never forget. ...more

Very clever and sweet story. I love how he kept himself busy kicking baseboards and tightening screws. :) So many funny moments, the writing brought the characters to life and made them easy to visualize and connect with.

So so so good! Some swearing including the f word once or twice. I fell in love with this crotchety old man!
