What Members Thought

I just finished reading this book again for book group. I've read it several times over the years, but every time it gets better. I am constantly amazed by the people in the ten Boom family. I cannot imagine making a choice to put your family in danger in order to protect someone you don't know. And, to be able to see the miracles that take place in their life even when they are in the most awful conditions. But, the thing that amazes me the most is the forgivess they extend to the people who hu

Incredibly inspiring and uplifting. To see what they went through and yet have the faith and love they had, even for their enemies, is just incredibly inspiring. Their father was so full of wisdom. He taught them much, including the love of the scriptures, that carried them through their darkest hours. It touched me so deeply that after I was finished, I read it again.

Reader thoughts: So many things happened to her, and she persevered so well, and she still praised God. CTB was such a prayer warrior. It's horrifying to hear of the truth of war, but it's a lesson we should keep in mind.
I loved the details about their hidden radio but that they had a smaller second one. There were details about bike rides, code words for Jewish fugitives using watches, and bed bugs in the prison barracks.
It was hard to read this again (12 years later) but so worth it.

This book has earned a solid spot in my favorite five books of all time. I'm serious, this, for me was truly life-changing. I am so impressed with the message of hope, derived from a life that most others would consider tragic and traumatic. Instead, Corrie ten Boom and her sister, Betsie embraced even the most horrfic experiences, and gave thanks to God for the journey and the opportunities to teach others and build His kingdom. Remarkable!

Reading the experiences in this book is very inspiring. It is amazing to be so optimistic and kind when others have put you in such horrible conditions. This is one of my favorite books!
I reread it again and was so touched over and over at the little miracles and tender mercies. I love how Betsy, Corrie, and their father are so quick to acknowledge God and give thanks for everything, even the fleas. This is the best book I've read--hands down. It is so well written, I breezed through it. And, it was so uplifting despite being about World War II. It has inspired me to be a better person and more diligent in my effort to become like my Savior. It has even made me hunger to study the scriptures better.

This is one of my favorite books of all time and definitely one of the most memorable I've ever read. Whenever I start thinking that my life is hard, I remember Corrie and her sister being grateful for the fleas in the concentration camp. Completely inspiring!
