I loved reading this again. Reading it the first time I was so impressed with the Ten Boom family. Love the wisdom and kindness of the father, and the courage and faith of the children. I usually have a hard time reading stories about WWII. I know that it happened and it was horrible and gut wrenching and every negative description you can place on mankind. I come across it enough in everyday life that I don't feel the need to make it my entertainment too. But this book is all about hope and the love of our Savior and how that hope and love becomes even stronger in the face of humanity's worst actions. What do you say when you are reading non fiction, but you hope all the way through that it's fiction. That's it's made up and the characters that you have come to care about deeply really never suffered so intensely. I own the book with leather binding and gold lettering. It sits on my, "You are not a reader unless you've read these" shelf.
