What Members Thought

This is my favorite Gene Stratton-Porter book. It has several of my favorite things: coming of age story, a person who perseveres in difficult circumstances and finds a way to reach her potential, and the details about nature. Yes, her stories are idyllic and not always realistic, but that’s part of what I like about them. She writes about the way things should be, if good always triumphed over evil. I keep coming back to this book, just so I can revisit the Limberlost and Elnora.

You can picture this book as an old black and white movie--the fashion, the dialog, the didacticism. It is a cute old-fashioned story.
