What Members Thought
This is one of the reasons I love Book Club! I doubt I would have picked up this book otherwise but I really liked it. Elnora is an amazing role model for young women - strong, determined, resourceful, confident, forgiving, and kind. I enjoyed reading her story and watching her grow. Also loved the descriptions of her surroundings and the people she associated with. Great book!
Why have I never read this before? Reminded me of Anne of Green Gables, but I liked it much better. It's much easier to read and only one book. Thanks to my sister for recommending :)

Sweet, endearing, natural. A classic. And free on many digital formats.
Good in a traditional classical sort of way. An enjoyable story.
