I should have loved this book. It's full of nature, uplifting morals, humor and even possesses a touch of romance. But I just couldn't. Elnore Comstock is a twit! The intended similarities between this heroine and Anne of Green Gables are difficult to miss. This is one of the reasons I love Book Club! I doubt I would have picked up this book otherwise but I really liked it. Elnora is an amazing role model for young women - strong, determined, resourceful, confident, forgiving, and kind. I enjoyed reading her story and watching her grow. Also loved the descriptions of her surroundings and the people she associated with. Great book!

I loved this book! It is a story of a girl who has no family except a mother who doesn't care about her at all. She overcomes so many difficulties and becomes such an amazing woman! I love all of the descriptions of nature and the beauty that she finds there... Great classic!

I couldn't put this book down! When someone recommended it for book club once I was not interested at all, it said it was about a girl that lived by a swamp and collected moths, but I found it to be so much more than that! It is a sweet story with great old fashioned morals.

I am ashamed to say that I didn't like it more than I actually did. I don't know if it was because I had to start and stop it so many times, but I just had a hard time getting into the story and caring about moths.
