What a tedious book. TEDIOUS. This is my second time reading it. I had to read it because I got the third book and couldn't remember what had happened in the first two. All I can say is that the new movie coming out that looks so fantabulous must be combining all 3 books because this first one has hardly anything exciting in it at all. The heroes are kidnapped. One escapes. He is captured. Two others escape. One does something stupid. One other is captured. Someone escapes. Someone is captured. ...more

I liked this book, but I saw the movie first, so I was constantly comparing it to the movie. I probably would've liked it better if I hadn't seen the movie first. Didn't like the ending. It of course left it open for the sequels, but the movie tied everything all nice--I liked that better! I'll probably read the sequels to this eventually, but I'm ready for something different. It was good though. ...more

it a little slow to get into but I really enjoyed it. I love the idea of being read in or out of books

Story lacks some continuity, but a great read!!

I have to agree with Lisa's review on this book. The whole premise was fascinating but the delivery just seemed to drag on for me. I gave it 3 stars because there was a lot of potential in it, but I was bored and disappointed. I think this may be a rare occasion where the movie is better than the book--less detail and wordiness. ...more

Didn't like it as much. I listened to it on CD and it seemed to drag on and on. Maybe if I read it it would have been better. Elinor seemed too cranky and Dustfinger too mean. ...more

Meh. The premise behind the story was good. I got tired of the aunt cursing over and over. It just didn't catch my attention like I had hoped it would... ...more

SWBG for March 2009. It was certainly a fanasty. To much meaness and brutality for me.
