So many different opinions on this one... Personally, I loved it. I picked it up and started reading without any knowledge of the story/characters/theme/setting. I was confused at first, but the writing was great and really drew me in. Yes it is written for a younger audience so some elements are hashed out as in depth as adults might like, but I think its really well written for its target.

I liked this book. A lot. It made me think, which I normally steer clear of. When I finished reading this at midnight, I could not fall asleep. I kept thinking about the characters and what all the different meanings and layers in the book meant. Considering that this is not a romance, I'm impressed. I had no idea this was part of a series. I felt the ending was strong, and now I'm not sure I want to continue on.

Easy read. Simple book. Ending left me hanging. I felt like there wasn't a resolution. But I loved the book and the idea of defying the superior power that rules a perfect society.

Actually I didn't read this but Jacob did - he loved it!

Realized when I started that I'd read this before. I think because there were no surprises I didn't enjoy it as much the second time. But it is an interesting story. Perhaps it makes me appreciate more my boys' rebelliousness and tendency to shirk rules...nah let's not go that far.
