I listened to this book and thought it was amazing. I loved both main characters and the telling of the story that intertwined the lives of a daughter of a slave owner, Sarah and a slave, Hettie. The narrators were so good and it reminded of me how I felt when I listened to "The Help."

I absolutely loved this book and I inhaled it. The main characters (Sarah and Handful) quickly found their way into my heart. The history and plot had me riveted. It wasn't until I was about 2/3 the way through the book that I decided to look online to see if any of this was true. I was astounded and pleasantly surprised to find that this was based on true historical figures and facts. It made the book even more dear to my heart. It was a perfect book to spend almost my entire Juneteenth reading

I loved that this book was based on actual sisters that fought for women’s rights and equality among all people. They had much courage to stand up for and speak out in the time period that they lived in.
