I'm finally reading it.

Aaah, I've never been so satisfied with how a book had ended since Clockwork Princess (which made me cry like a baby again when I read it the second time). I can't believe I've put off reading this since it came out. I waited for this to be released but when it was released, I've already read several books in between that I can't seem to get back into this 'world'. Even though I found myself enjoying this (maybe because I just missed them so much), I think it could've been shorter and could've been more epic. It felt like one of those books that could be placed in the middle of a series. (Well technically it was, since TDA is a direct sequel to this). Also, I found myself not caring for other characters and what happens to Idris in particular, except for Simon, Isabelle, Alec and Zachariah (He's not even a main character) and a little bit for Magnus, but y Even though I found myself enjoying this (maybe because I just missed them so much), I think it could've been shorter and could've been more epic. Also, I found myself not caring for other characters and what happens to Idris in particular, except for Simon, Isabelle, Alec and Zachariah (He's not even a main character) and a little bit for Magnus, but you see, when you find yourself not caring for the established main heroes of the story or the main point of the plot, then clearly, I think there's something wrong.

Also, I get it that it is essential to introduce the main characters for TDA to build some kind of attachment for them, but I think this is sort of a cowardly move on the writer's part, and the introduction of these characters were kind of forced and lengthened the book. It was unnecessary or was too much. Well, I don't know. That much background story was not needed in my opinion. It can be easily integrated into TDA. If you can't create a stand alone series that doesn't depend on a previous series for character development then you obviously have a problem. Also, I think the death count was kind of low. I'm not a sadist or maybe I am, I don't know, but it felt unrealistic. Also, I found myself skipping parts because it was boring or petty or both and was more excited for Simon or Zachariah to appear again. lol. Especially when it was Jace's or Clary's POV. Clary, Jace's prettiness is not relevant to the story and will not save anybody's life.

What I didn't expect though was that I would be devastated so much（I WAS BAWLING AT 4 AM IN THE MORNING!). So much more devastated compared with the Will-Jem-Tessa predicament (and that hurt). All I can say is that I LOVE SIMON SO MUCH. I never was a Jace fan. I was always a Simon fan. Oh my God. Simon broke me, and Izzy. UGH. I just love these two so much. Reading this made me want to read the short stories for Simon, i'm just scared that it would suck donkeyballs like the Bane Chronicles. I stopped reading that collection of short stories after reading three stories which didn't made a lot of impact. So i'm scared that by reading Simon's short stories, I would be disappointed. I just love Simon that much. UGH.

I still prefer this series end with City of Glass. It was more concise and more appropriate. But this book was worth it, because Chapter 23. This book should've been a near 2 stars rating but I just can't make myself give it 2 stars simply because of Chapter 23. Also, Cassie's writing improved a lot by the way. haha.

EDIT:

I forgot to mention one aspect of this series that I really liked. The politics aspect of the series. The Clave itself. It's kind of pretty cool. I hope Cassie focuses more on this aspect next time.
