If you want to reading something different, then this is the book! Mitchell takes the reader through six different stories which the reader is only allowed to read the first part and then move on to the next story -- in this order 1 2 3 4 5 6 and then return to the books in this order 5 4 3 2 1. Personally I have to say that I enjoyed all of the stories except the dystopian one entitled An Orison of Sonmi, which made me think that Mitchell was influenced greatly by the 1973 film - Soylent Green,

Put it down about 2/3 of the way through and couldn't face picking it up again. Reads like a really bad, contrived creative writing exercise.

I agree with some others that this book is not an easy read but still worthwhile. It had great moments and uncanny connections that I liked but always left me feeling like its true meaning was just out of my brains reach. Certain characters wit or charm held me and my favorites were Robert Frobisher, Joe Napier, and Timothy Cavendish. I definitely had trouble keeping track of some storylines and more minor characters.
