Thought I had read this earlier, but the Gutenberg version is the original translation, and very different from some of the other (edited heavily) translations. Well worth reading. I can't imagine being able to do as much as they did, in terms of building a community even though they had the contents of the entire ship at their service. It is also remarkable that they had everything from Platypus, Kangaroos, buffalos/bison, and many other assorted things like breadfruit trees, figs, etc. all on ...more
