In fifth grade, every day after lunch our teacher would read a book to us. And this was how I first experienced the Hobbit - as a book read aloud to a room full of fifth and sixth graders of various reading interests and ability who were suddenly quiet and interested. And so I asked for the whole set for Christmas, and Santa so provided.

One of the first books that elevated my imagination at a very young age!
Cute little tale. I like the narrative style, like a grandfather telling a bedtime story to his grandson.
I first read The Hobbit some years ago and I had loved it then. Now, with all the excitement about the upcoming movie, I thought I would re-read and see if I still like it as much as I did then.
I’m happy to say that I wasn’t disappointed. In fact, if possible, I enjoyed it more this time.

Better 2nd time around. Really don't like what they have done with the movie. Could we have any MORE of the pale ork in the movie? Geez.
