What Members Thought
I really get fermented when I read a rags to riches tale, so naturally I was fond of Pearl Buck's work. She does an excellent job depicting the main characters ambition, determination, and ultimately his success, despite a questionable act half-way through the book that is the cornerstone of his prosperity.

Pearl Buck serves a slice of pure humanity with notes of sweetness but steeped in bitterness. The injustices and needless cruelties stay with a reader long after the book is closed.
