While 1984 talked about a totalitarian regime where people are driven by fear of the state, in Brave New World people are instead driven by pleasure. There is so much pleasure: its almost the perfect atmosphere for happiness. Yet, there is no happiness. I think Brave New World captures the world today is for this reason.

A wonderful book, and it is well supplemented by Brave New World revisited where Huxley comments on whether his predictions were really coming true.

Highly recommended book.
