I found that I had to be in the right mindset to 'get into' this book. After a long day's work, this can be difficult because Nathaniel Hawthore uses quite dense language. Once I broke it up by listening to chapters on audiobook I enjoyed the story much more. It is wonderful to see how far womens' rights have come since that period of time, and I find the view points of the characters to be fascinating, especially when compared with modern views.
