I loved this book so much.
If I have any complaints it would be that it was too short. A lot is of the images and feelings are left for the reader to construct on their own, and that's not always a successful strategy.
However, it worked for me this time. I had enough information to get so much more than I though possible from this little story. I have never seen the film but I am hoping to be able to do that in not too long. ...more

Lucy is a middle class English girl. With her cousin Charlotte as a chaperone, she visits Italy and her life changes. We see her growing from a naïve, young girl to somebody who can think for herself and take her own decisions. I wish George had a little more presence in the story. I would have liked Lucy and him to spend more time together – falling in love.
A good, fun book for a lazy summer afternoon.
