I decided to choose this book for my class since I rightly suspected that many of my students had already read The Great Gatsby. Like Gatsby, this book has some beautiful language and some reach themes that it explores as we see each of Amory Blaine's romances. The short segments within each chapter offered smaller glimpses at Amory and it was interesting seeing him wrestle with the philosophical woes of his age.
