What Members Thought

Charles Dickens's work is always more readable than I expect. Like many Americans, I have a knee-jerk reaction to him based mostly on those twee British film adaptations and the maudlin sermonizing of A Christmas Carol. Also to blame is his tendency to give characters names like Mr. Pumblechook and Mr. Wopsle. I got myself this for Christmas, and I'm just going to close myself off with it in my office and go all Gollum over it. (I did think it was a hardback. Oh well. It's GORGEOUS.)
